[Japan-Sunday] Onsen

Heyho, Japan-Sunday again.

Today I'll explain what an onsen is.
An onsen is a kind of bath. The water is based on the hot water of a natural hot spring.

In Japan there are so many vulcanically active areas so onsen are a common thing.
Onsen may only be called Onsen, when it's a natural spring, else this word may not be used for this kind of establishment.

You normally enter the onsen in a provided yukata (Kimono), at the entrance area you get off all your clothes (put them into provided baskets).

When entering the next room, you clean yourself first, and when this is finished you can get into the hot water.

Normally the onsen are devided by gender, or in a specific period only male or female are allowed if it cannot be separated.

There are some onsen, where males and females can take a bath together, these are called konyoku and are quite rare, women normally wear towels in those ones.

In huge "public" onsen like the Monogatari Onsen on Odaiba (Tokyo) where hundrets of people meet simultaneously, tattoos are not allowed.

That's all folks, see U soon!!!

[Treasure-Thursday] Henshin-TIME - Gosei Sentai Dairanger

Henshin-TIME!!!

Today on Treasure-Thursday it's "Morphin-Time".

This week's pick is my RyuuSeiOh. The Super Sentai Series is a life action series. The first season started 1975 in Japan, it was later adepted to the west under the name Power Rangers.

The original Japanese Super Sentai series is normally much more mature and sometimes dark resulting in deaths of main characters (not every season but not totally impossible or as rare as in the western "version")

In every season a group of young adults has to deal with a threat, mostly impersonated by a group of villains who try to conquer the world.

To fight those evil forces they "morph"/transform into powerful "super heros" who have an arsenal of many different weapons such as sabers blasters...

Almost every episode has the same structure - the minions and 1 monster are sent to the world to do "something evil", it's faces by the rangers and is beaten, but then the villain boss uses a magical spell/skill/whatever to revive and enlarge that creature to make it as high as a skycraper.

To face this huge version of the monster the heros use their "big machines"/robots/"zords"..., mostly animal robots that can combine into an even stronger robot and beat the monster.

The Dairanger series was aired in 1993-1994 in Japan. The series' theme has many chinese symbols, e.g. the animal robots, they have the form of an Tenma (pegasus-like), Kirin (unicorn-like), Shishi (lion-like), Houou (phoenix-like) and Ryuu (dragon) - on the other hand the enemies are often Yōkai or other typically Japanese creatures.

This genre of series is called Tokuhatsu, another example is Kamen/Masked Rideror Ultraman.

Many of this figurines can be found on ebay or in every Mandarake shop in Japan ;)

That's it for the treasure!

See u folks!

This event is a huge event with 100+ artists and many sub-events throughout the whole city of Leipzig. (http://www.wave-gotik-treffen.de/english)

In almost every spot in the city you can meet or see groups of people with their beautiful costumes.

It is one of the biggest events in the whole world for this culture. This festival is very international, people from many different nations travel to Leipzig to enjoy and their passion with others.

You can either get a wristband for all of the events (~100€) or a ticket for the sub-event itself depending on the event and location.

I visit the pagan village (Heidnisches Dorf) every year (10€)

I like the presented music, the great food and tasty traditional MET - JUST AWESOME

I also enjoyed taking a bath in a wooden bath tub - some years ago was my last time ;)

I hope I could give you a good round-up of this great festival.
